One hundred fifty years of railroad history abandoned and left to rot in place provides the backdrop for Wheeler Antabanez as he walks the Newark Branch of the Erie Railroad. This movie is based on the book, Walking the Newark Branch A Photographic Journey on the Abandoned Rails of New Jersey.

The adventure begins on a rainy winter's day as Wheeler infiltrates deep into the Meadowlands to find the exact spot where the Erie Newark Branch emerges from the Old Boonton Line. As the expedition unfolds, Wheeler investigates such forsaken landmarks as the abandoned WNEW radio transmitter, Clark Thread Mill, NX Bridge, Riverside Industrial Superfund Site, Walter Kidde Brownfield Site, the Nutley Train Trestle, and many more.

The Old Boonton Line of the Erie Railroad is the proposed route of a paved bike path that will stretch from Montclair to Jersey City. Wheeler Antabanez (Writer, Photographer, Weird NJ Correspondent) walked the rails one last time before the tracks disappear.

Formerly part of the New York and Greenwood Lake Railroad, the abandoned Old Boonton Line of the Erie Railroad runs through; Montclair, Glen Ridge, Bloomfield, Belleville, Newark, Kearny, Secaucus, and Jersey City.

This book and movie stands as a marker for the winter of 2021/2022, the last moments when the Old Boonton Line remained perfectly abandoned, wild, and free.

Distraught and disillusioned by the demolition of his favorite abandoned asylum, Wheeler wrote Words of Overbrook during a nine-day outpouring of cathartic scribbling.

Words of Overbrook, the movie, chronicles the asylum from semi-abandonment to full-on infiltration and total demolition.
